Traditions of Maha Saptami

Maha Saptami is also known as Saptami of Durgapuja and is one of the important days of Durga Puja.
Maha Puja begins on Maha Saptami.
Durga Puja is a Hindu festival in South Asia that celebrates the worship of Goddess Durga.
Durga Puja celebrates the victory over the ten-armed mother goddess and her evil buffalo demon Mahishasura.
The world was threatened by the evil buffalo demon Mahishasura that no man or deity could defeat. To kill the demon, Durga emerged from the collective energy of all the gods. Each of his ten arms was the deadliest weapon of each deity.
On the seventh day (Saptami) of Durga Puja, the goddess began her epic battle against Mahishasura which ended with her death on Vijayadashami (10th day).
